Over the weekend, my dad and stepmom invited us to have dinner with them at Hoosier Park & Casino. They told us about the amazing buffet and offered us a hotel room. In need of an adventure, we happily agreed. We started our night off at the hotel, where we dropped off our bags (and I put on high heels). The free shuttle picked us up and dropped us off right in front of the casino’s main entrance. We walked to the west side of the casino towards the Prime Harvest Buffet. For $24.95 they had all you can eat mouthwatering prime rib, warm crab legs, salads, shrimp, crab cakes, fried shrimp, catfish, salmon, ham, pasta bar, fruit, and what seemed like an endless supply of desserts. There were fruit and cream pies (including Indiana’s state pie – Sugar Cream), cakes, cookies, ice cream, cheesecakes, and (my personal favorite) a chocolate fondue fountain. This was only ONE of the 12 locations for food and beverages within the casino.
Once we were stuffed we headed to the bar to get drinks and talk where it was a little quieter. The drinks were not overpriced and we were all a little shocked. When we realized we could afford it, we headed down the the tables and slots. Jason and I realized we were no good at gambling after 5 minutes and made sure not to play any slots (it takes a lot longer to lose all your money that way) and stuck with roulette. Although we didn’t win any portion of last week’s $40.7 million payout, we played for probably two hours and made friends with some of the other players.
At 4:00AM (yes, you read that correctly), we hopped on the shuttle and headed back to the hotel where we slept until checkout at noon the next day. We had so much fun and can’t wait to go back when the horse racing starts in April!
